Ravana angrily asked his charioteer how dared he drove his chariot away from the field. He said that the charioteer had brought a big shame upon him and harmed his great reputation. He asked that his chariot be taken back immediately to the spot where he wanted to fight the enemy. For this, the charioteer replied that he did not mean to bring shame to the Rakshasa king but only he observed that he was tired and so also the horses. He said that it was his duty to be alert in the war field and observe everything and he also saw some signs of ill omens. So he said that he left the war field only in the interest of his master and he was only waiting to obey his master’s instructions. Ravana was pleased with his reply and ordered him to take him quickly to where Rama was. He also said that Ravana was never used to leaving the enemy unpunished. He also gifted the charioteer with a gold bangle. They reached the place where Rama was and approached him.
