In the previous chapter, we saw
Indrajit creates Maya Sita (illusion) and kills her. , Now we'll see Rama’s sorrow.
Rama heard a big commotion and feared that Hanuman who was fighting the rakshasas was in trouble.
So he asked Jambavan to go to the
aid of Hanuman. As Jambavan started to go he saw Hanuman and his army were coming to meet Rama.
They all wore sad
looks. Hanuman came up to Rama and said that as they all were watching Indrajit killed Sita who was crying. As soon as Rama heard this he lost his senses and fell to
the ground like an uprooted tree. The
Vanaras saw this and rushed to bring aid to Rama. They sprinkled water perfumed with various flowers
such as lotus and others. Lakshmana who could not bear this sight went and lifted his brother and tried to
console him. He said “Brother the
path of Dharma that you have been following so rigorously would be your strength. I am convinced that Dharma exists.
Those who follow Dharma will not meet with any difficulty. But then I feel that things are rather on the
contrary. Or else how a person like
you who is the embodiment of Dharma be subjected to all these hardships? Whatever
has happened should
not be harmful to you. You rejected the kingdom, which came to you rightfully. Why did you not stop the act of father
Dasharatha who committed an act of
Adharma? Only he who has the fortunes of the world has, relatives, and friends and is also wise. Now all your good
qualities, courage, and enthusiasm are masked like the sun by the clouds. The Rakshasa has killed your wife and you should now get up and become your normal self. I will
destroy Lanka with all its habitants and animals”.
At this moment Vibheeshana arrived with his army and was shocked to see Rama in that sorry plight
and being consoled by Lakshmana. He
addressed Rama and told him that he knew well
the intentions of Ravana regarding Sita. He said, “No one can even see
Sita for she is so well protected. Indrajit deceived all the Vanaras and created an illusion of the
scene when he killed Sita. He was only hurrying to Nikumbhila
forest where he is going to perform a great
Yajnya. According to the boon he had received
from Lord Brahma once he completes this ritual he will become invincible and all of you will face death
without fail. Therefore send
Lakshmana to kill Indrajit before he completes this ritual. This is very important so please order
Lakshmana without any delay”.
Rama was still confused with all those rapid developments and asked Vibheeshana to repeat what he said. Vibheeshana did so and requested
Rama to send Lakshmana and his army to Nikumbhila at once. Rama who had already experienced the illusory war
fare of Indrajit once ordered the
great warrior Lakshmana and said “Lakshmana
you go with the Vanara army headed by Hanuman
and also the bears headed by Jambavan and kill Indrajit in the fight”.
Lakshmana accordingly offered
his respects to Rama took his blessings
and left at once followed
by Vibheeshana who went to guide him.
In the next chapter, We'll see War with Indrajit.
