Court inquiry of Hanuman and Hanuman’s advice - Chapter 28

In the previous chapter, we saw Hanuman sees the splendor of Ravana and his court. , Now we'll see a Court inquiry of Hanuman and Hanuman’s advice.

Ravana too in turn starred at Hanuman and was greatly impressed by him and wondered if he was not Lord Nandi (Lord Shiva’s vehicle) who had come there in the form of a monkey to destroy him. He wondered who it could be. So he ordered Prahasta who was one of his wisest ministers to question Hanuman to find out about him. He wanted to know what his mission was and why he had come and destroyed Ashoka Vana. So Prahasta asked Hanuman who he was. He asked him if it was Indra or Lord Vishnu who came to destroy. He told Hanuman to tell them without any fear about his real mission. Hanuman replied that he was simply a Vanara messenger and he destroyed the garden so that he could meet with their king Ravana.

He also added that no Astra could bind him, thanks to the boons he had received from Lord Brahma but he willingly accepted Brahmastra sent by Indrajit so that he could come to the court of Ravana. Hanuman said that he was Rama’s messenger and asked the court to listen to what he had to say for their own benefit.

In the next chapter, We'll see Hanuman’s advice to Ravana.
