The rakshasis back in Lanka learned about the death of their near ones and wept bitterly. Each and every household had lost a husband, a son, a brother, and so on and they all mourned this heavy loss of lives not to mention the destruction of the city. They cursed Shoorpanakha whom they accused of being the sole responsible for the whole tragedy that befell them. They asked why she went and tried to lure Rama. They said the result was the death of so many Rakshasa chiefs. Then they started accusing Ravana who had carried away Sita and earned the wrath of Rama. They said that the mere fact Rama killed the great Rakshasa warriors such as Khara, Dooshana, Kabandha and others was enough to foretell the great danger befalling them. Ravana did not heed the advice of Vibheeshana but banished him from Lanka. They said that Ravana had not realized the power of Rama even when Kumbhakarna was killed. They all prepared themselves for the worst as they mourned for their relatives who lost their lives so far. They said “Ravana who was invincible by Devas and all others except men started harassing the world. So enraged Brahma had said that a woman was going to be born who will be the cause of Ravana’s destruction. We feel that Sita should be that woman and she would cause the destruction of all of us”.
In the next chapter, We'll see Ravana goes to fight.
