Destroying the Madhuvana - Chapter 37

In the previous chapter, we saw Departing for Kishkindha. , Now we'll see Destroying the Madhuvana.

They reached a beautiful forest full of trees and creepers and stopped there. That place was called ‘Madhuvana’ and was maintained with great care for King Sugreeva by his uncle Dadhimukha. This forest was normally forbidden to all. But the Vanaras entered that forest and wanted to drink the honey. Angada made Jambavan agree to their wish and everyone drank honey. They were so infatuated that they started singing, dancing, jumping, laughing, and running here and there. They started to jump from one tree to another and thereby destroyed the trees. Dadhimukha tried to stop them from destroying the beautiful place but the Vanaras who were drunk beat him. The Vanaras caused great damage to that beautiful forest.

Hanuman told the Vanaras that they could enjoy the honey as much as they wished and do what they wanted. Angada could not but agree with Hanuman who had accomplished such a great deed in finding Sita. So there was a total destruction of the place by the Vanaras who got drunk. They even bet the guards who went to Dadhimukha and complained. They all went and tried to control the Vanaras by beating them. But Angada got annoyed and slapped Dadhimukha who fell down and lost consciousness for some time. Then Dadhimukha decided to go and inform Sugreeva for whom Madhuvana was very dear. He was sure that Sugreeva would punish all the Vanaras for their act. So he left immediately with his vanaras and flew to meet Sugreeva to report to him the matter. They reached the place in a very short time.

In the next chapter, We'll see Dadhimukha complains to Sugreeva.
