Wrong Notions-3-Prema

Similarly the other set of people who go to the other extreme of saying that God can be realized by unabashed and free for all love making are committing a suicidal blinder because it will result only in terrible social and cosmic reprisals to the participants of such vulgarities.

These people have totally misunderstood the Vedic concept of “Prema”- the eternal, unremitting , uncontrollable and insatiable - mental and intellectual love (that of Radha and Andal) as denoting a physical relationship

They have carelessly, misleadingly and perhaps deliberately propagated such theories for pandering to the baser instincts of the human beings so that they can become materially rich while making the participants materially and spiritually very poor.

These materialists who want to enjoy everything, that too right now, whether entitled or not, are on a suicidal path because this is in violation of cosmic laws and will result only in early burn outs and will end up in painful lives.

They have not understood the law of ‘ananda’- the law of eternal bliss or the law of ‘karma’ - the law of reprisal’. The law of Ananda means and refers to absolute bliss – everlasting happiness arising out of conscious living and not short term reckless pleasures arising out of sensual living.

Wrong notions - 4 -Mechanical and Ritualistic life

The concept of the conventional ‘Grihasthashrama’ is also merely ritualistic with theories of outsourcing appeals to God and proxy prayers without really uplifting the mind and purifying the soul.

You can’t realize God with external ceremonies. It is an internal process and you have to do it yourself. As JK says ‘nobody can help you, other than your own self.

This ritualistic approach has reduced spirituality to a barter system and has given false complacency.

What Vedas means by disciplines (the prescribed rituals) is self preparation and self purification on the road to spirituality. This kind of practice of fire oblation has been suggested not as an alternative but as a stepping stone to spirituality.

Without understanding this if somebody does the rituals only, it is as good as going all the way to Kashi but not taking a bath in Ganges.

So nothing wrong in following this approach if, and only if, it is fully internalized that this is only a vehicle and not the destination.
