Hanuman tells the story of Rama - Chapter 16

In the previous chapter, we saw Hanuman's plan to console Sita. , Now we'll see Hanuman telling the story of Rama.

It was indeed a brilliant idea of Hanuman to have decided to tell the story of Rama in whose thoughts Sita lived each and every moment of her life. Hanuman started “There was a great king Dasharatha who was the king of kings and a mighty warrior. But he was very gentle and generous. Rama his eldest son was sent by Dasharatha to the forest along with his wife Sita and his brother Lakshmana as hermits. The brothers killed several rakshasas in the forest. While in Janasthana Ravana stealthily carried away Sita. Rama and Lakshmana went about searching for Sita and met Sugreeva and made friends with him. Rama killed Vali and gave the kingdom to Sugreeva who undertook the search for Sita. Thousands of Vanaras started the search. I Hanuman, Sugreeva’s minister crossed the sea as per the advice of Sampati and now a lady who corresponds well to the description given by Rama has been seen by me”. Having said this he kept silent.

Sita heard these words and could not believe her ears. She looked up and saw Hanuman. Soon she was sad because it is believed that looking at a monkey portends bad luck. In fact nowadays seeing a monkey is considered to portend good things. Perhaps this is so because Sita though was scared that she saw a monkey did indeed get good news.

She was so perplexed that she thought that she should be dreaming. But she said to herself that she could see a form that uttered those words. She prayed that all that happened should become a reality.

In the next chapter, We'll see Hanuman’s conversation with Sita.
