Sages
While avataras are God descending as man; sages, are men ascending as God or close to God. There are several Rishis who have through meditation, austerity and yoga have transcended the human mind and had a vision of the creator. To them the most benevolent God head revealed the cosmic wisdom. While there are many such blessed saints in India, seven great men have been designated as Great sages- ‘the Sapta rishis’.The generally accepted seven names are :‘Atri, Bhrigu, Kuthsa, Vashishta , Gautama, Kashyapa ,Angirasa’.
Naturally their life, thoughts, words, deeds were so divine, pure and blessed and therefore their sayings, teachings, utterances; the incidences in their life, their story ; why even their very name carry the divine power and uplifts the mind and soul..They had a lot of revealed wisdom which have been passed on to us in the form of ‘mantras’ –the powerful cosmic vibrations capable of curing human ailments. Through their clairvoyance and clairaudience several divine secrets were revealed to them and they have posited them as mantras for posterity. Each of these mantras is a very powerful vibration and carries divinity with it. They generate unbelievable positive energies and wades off negative energies.
It must be noted that they have got them revealed when they were in a transcendental state and what they spoke were the God’s words, in their trance and that is why such mantras are terribly powerful.It is a duty ordained on humans to pay their gratitude to them always, as they are the ancient most benevolent progenitors of human race. Their lineage is called Gotra and each of the rishi got imbibed the stellar vibrations and every human can be traced back of one rishi or the other. These stellar vibrations are even now in the genetics of humans and it is incorporated in human brain cells. The Vedic verses have been successfully carried forward through memorization and simple oral rendition from generation to generation only by invoking these highly potent stellar vibrations.
In a metaphysical context their teachings and the mantras propounded by them are one of the best curative tools to make the humans to ward off evils, lead a happy life and evolve into super humans. To uplift us materially and spiritually that is what we need to make effective use off.
WHO IS A RISHI
Rishis-the self actualized people display a set of values – the values which distinguishes them from ordinary mortals, which are as under;
They are realistically oriented and not threatened by the unknown. They have a superior ability to reason and see the truth.
They perceive and understand the human nature, accept themselves, other people, circumstances and the natural world.
They are always willing to learn new things from any one, without being stereotypes.
They are emotionally intelligent, serene, worriless.
They are self starters, responsible for themselves and their own behavior.
They enjoy work as pleasure and their desires are in excellent accord with reason.
They are unflappable; retain dignity amid confusion and personal misfortune, all the while remaining objective.
They are spontaneous and have no inhibitions.
They can be alone but never lonely. They are honest and seek justice for all.
They are autonomous and independent. Their thoughts and impulses are unhampered by convention and they determine their own moral standards of very high order.
They have fresh , path breaking ideas on nature and do not conform to culture and tradition.
They live afresh every moment ,vibrantly and enjoy ‘peak experiences’- divine experiences that was hidden or obscured before.
They seek wholesomeness, merge two diametrically opposing views in to a third higher synthesis as though the two have united without a conflict.
They retain their childlike qualities and yet have a far seeing wisdom.
They enjoy an inborn uniqueness which is reflected in everything they do
Their creativity is original, inventive, uninhibited,. They see only the real ,true and valuable.
They are self motivated to the core for continual growth, being fully aware of the primary goals of life and stand fully committed in fulfilling them.
They tend to be more detached ,like solitude and more of personal time, They appreciate the world around them with a sense of awe and wonder.
They feel happy at another’s success. They give more to other people and need very less back.
