About the artist T.M. Krishna:
One of the leading figures in Carnatic music, T.M. Krishna is a performer, teacher, composer and researcher. A representative of the classicists, his music reflects the core values of Carnatic music. His resonant and mellifluous voice and strict adherence to classicism have enriched his art. His music is marked with a very high level of aesthetics in conception and execution. He is known for his tremendous manodharma (imagination) and sampradaya (traditional) sangeetha (music). His complete involvement and his ability to unfold ragas with ease have left many listeners lost in his music. His renditions of Vilamba Kalam (slow tempo) compositions, soaked with bhakthi (devotion) and bhava (emtion) are a treat to every listener.
He his delivered lectures on various topice ranging from music appreciation to creativity in numerous prestigious universities such as Harvard University, IIT Madras, IIM Bangalore. He is the founder of various organizations like the Jnanarnava Foundation, Sumanas Trust, Kalaachaara Marumalarchi Trust. These organaizations are active in the fields of music research, propogation of Carnatic music in the rural areas of tamilnadu and providing financial support to talented students from rural areas to access quality musical education. He is also co-founder of Matraka, co-author of Voices Within and co-designer and presenter of Voices Within Business Creativity Workshop along with Bombay Jayashri. He is a regular writer in various journals, magazinges, and newspapers.
