HINDUISM FOR ALL

ASTROLOGY AND ASTRONOMY

Jyotisha (Jyotis = stellar body) was originally scheduled as a vedaanga i.e. ancillary science of Veda. There was no distinction between astronomy and astrology. The contribution of Indians to astronomy and mathematics which was a part of astronomy, is truly commendable. This contribution is acknowledged by all great thinkers of the world including Albert Einstein. The application of trignometrical and geometrical proof to solve an astronomical problem was the genius of Hindu astronomy.

The belief in the movement of planetary bodies and their subtle influence over man and world became a subject of detailed study. A detailed study of their movements and its influence is truly a rewarding experience.

Later on, other systems of predictive astrology such as Prashna, Naadi, Palmistry etc. came to be developed, which are now immensely popular.
