Special info about Sri Ramanuja Jayanthi

Ramanujar Jayanthi is celebrated to pay respect for Ramanuja Acharya who was a South Indian philosopher as well as great devotee of Lord Vishnu. Sri Ramanuja Acharya was born in the village of Sriperambudur in 1017 CE. Lakshmana was the birth name of Ramanuja and also named as Ilaya Perumal which means radiant one. Sri Ramanuja Acharya disappeared in Srirangam at the age of 120.

Ramanujar Jayanthi is celebrated every year on Thiruvathirai Nakshatra day during Chithirai month based on Tamil calendar. Ramanuja said that the only way to attain Moksha is to worship Lord Vishnu.
Ramanuja Acharya is the great philosopher of Vaishnavism who seeded the thought to devotees to choose their own way of worship for attaining the highest level of devotion. His unique nature of worship made the people to follow him.
