Ramanujar Jayanthi is celebrated to pay respect for Ramanuja Acharya who was a South Indian philosopher as well as great devotee of Lord Vishnu. Sri Ramanuja Acharya was born in the village of Sriperambudur in 1017 CE. Lakshmana was the birth name of Ramanuja and also named as Ilaya Perumal which means radiant one. Sri Ramanuja Acharya disappeared in Srirangam at the age of 120.
