Purusha suktam

The rationalists cling to the verses in this great hymn which when dealing about creation talks about from which parts of the body of the God the varnas arose.

They say what arose from some parts of the God is degrading.

First they have not understood that what it says.

It says that from which part a ‘skill’ arose – and not the ‘deployers or users or practitioners of that skill’. Therefore their argument is fallacious and malicious. Suppose an Indian acts in a crooked way in America , can the Americans say ‘the Indians are crooks’

Moreover it is only common sense that there is no difference in any part of the body because lack of anything is a handicap in its own way.

The hymn said the intellectual faculty arose from Mouth, the fearless agility to fight arose from arms; the method of trading arose from thighs and the capacity to serve arose from feet.

It is only a logical presentation since an intellectual uses his voicelawyer or a teacher or a poojari etc., the warrior uses his arms to fight; the facilitators use the thighs because they are always seated (look at any trader or shop owner) and a service man uses his legs because he has to be always on his toes-look at a foreman or a mechanic etc.,

The sukta has been absolutely scientific. The deliberate misrepresentation is motivated.

Let us ask a simple question back if they think feet is an inferior place are they prepared to cut off their feet and live.

Logic of some of the practices prescribed by shastras

Shastras have several do’s and don’ts .Many of them followed; equally many of them criticized. We will take a few examples to explain how every practice has a science and logic behind it.

Solar and lunar eclipses:

The shastras say that during eclipse period certain discipline has to be observed-which deals with eating , bathing, extra care for pregnant women, prayers, exercising control over mentally disturbed persons etc., We all mock at it.

The underlying reason is during eclipse an imbalance is created in the vibratory field and it is likely to impact physiologically and psychologically. The impact is dependent upon the intensity of the eclipse. The impact is more in respect of solar eclipse.

During eclipse the UV rays are also altered and are likely to have bad impact.
